Hiring a car abroad

If you are going on holiday then you may consider hiring a car whilst you are away.  Firstly you need to consider which hire company you want to use.  You may decide to book your hire car in advance or at the Airport or you may decide to book it when you are there.

You will need to ensure that you have all the correct documentation to book the vehicle.  This often includes your driving licence and possibly the card that you can use for a deposit as well as the balance of the hire.

Hiring a car when on holiday can allow you to travel round and explore the area without having to rely on public transport.  This can be a great way to get around and may save you money in the long run.  You need to think carefully about where you park your vehicle when using a hire car as some hire companies stipulate that the car must be parked in a secure car park overnight.

Ensure that you read the terms and conditions very carefully and that you fully understand all the rules and regulations of the hire policy.

Check what’s the excess is for the insurance policy and consider taking out an excess waiver package, to avoid having to pay a hefty fees should you need to make a claim.
