Guides and Reviews on New Cars, Used Models and Classics. From time to time, you will notice that a light is not working correctly n your vehicle. This may be an interior light that is supposed to come on when you open the door, or possible an exterior one such as a head light.
You may assume that changing a bulb is a very easy and simple job to do but unfortunately this is not always the case.
Most vehicles have quick release panels that allow you to easily access the back of the light fittings under the bonnet for the exterior lights. You can then remove the dud bulb and replace it with a new one, but this is not the case for all makes and models of vehicles.
Some vehicles make it almost impossible for you to change the bulb yourself and require you to remove the plastic covering held in place by studs around the wheel arch. This can be quite hard to do and often locating and replacing the bulb is not always straight forward especially as you are having to do it blind. There are also a few makes and models of cars that require you to complete part of the front bumper to access to front light assembly. Often vehicles where you are required to do this, are best taken to a garage to complete.
Make sure you don’t skimp on bulbs as you do not want to have to keep changing them. Place such as Halfords sell most bulbs for most vehicles and will also fit them for you for a small fee.
